You guys are loving Inis Oírr and I can see why!
What a beauty! And for all this work you get a wrap or a blanket. No fussing with sizing. If your gauge is slightly off…you still get a usable wrap or blanket. Gain or lose a little weight and you still have…a usable wrap or blanket. Give as a gift to a baby and you’ve given an heirloom that can be used now *and* later.
Knit along with us. Inis is a BIG wrap/blanket so you’ll need help from your peers to keep going. You know what it’s like when someone posts pics and eggs you on? We’re all for some peer pressure and peer support. And we’ll be here right along with you.
I started one in Lake Heather this weekend. I still have A LONG way to go. Won’t you join me? I could use some nudging too. Nobody likes to lose.
We’ve starting a thread in Ravelry so it’s easy to post your progress. We also have some tutorials planned and Kelly – the designer – will be here to help as well.
Contest
Enter to win 10 skeins of Valley Yarns Northampton in the color of your choice (sponsored by Webs). Northampton is a gorgeous worsted weight 100% wool (the same yarn Kelly used above). Northampton is just slightly lighter weight than Cascade 220 – it’s about 10% lighter than Cascade 220. I honestly didn’t notice the difference – I’m going purely on weights (247 yards versus 220 yards per 100 grams). Like Cascade 220 it’s *not* superwash so it can be felted. I suspect they can be interchanged but I haven’t checked to confirm.
Either way this is a gorgeous yarn you’d be proud to give as a gift project.
Leave a comment on this post with your preferred color and you’re entered! It’s that easy. The contest will run through Sunday August 28th and we’ll announce the winner on the 29th.
Good luck! And don’t forget to post in the Ravelry thread to be included in the KAL. We’ll have some more contests and prizes too.

Ooh, I would love to do this in Pacific time. So gorgeous.
I really like the medium grey (50) color. I believe it would make a beautiful Inis Oirr.
Lake heather color is so lovely!!
What a fantastic pattern. I would love to make one in dark green heather.
Oh this is lovely. light Grey for the win! CHEERS!
I also love Stratosprehe! It would be awesome to knit the blanket in that color 🙂
I’d like Lake Heather. Something that reminds me of being at Lake Mackinac and the 4th of July, that will keep me warm in the winter.
