Once this yarn entered my house, it kept whispering to me its sweet nothings about how it wanted to be a one skein design of a hat.
As I doodled with the yarn, I came up with this crown. I had images of a rakish Jughead and the sparkle beauty of dragon spikes dancing away in my head as I flipped and fit my image within the yarns whispered desires.

Malabrigo Yarn Twist (100% merino; 130 yards [119 meters]/100 grams): Gold Buscanner , 1 skein (for the all down-turned points), Clear Amber 1 skein (mixed points), Naranja Seco (child’s version with one upturned point).
Needles
US#10 (6 mm): 24” circular
Gauge
18 sts and 22 rows = 4” in St st unblocked this is a stiff gauge.

Pattern Notes
Bobble – Into a stitch [(k1,yo)twice, k1] (5 sts now on the needle), turn. P5, turn. K5, turn. P2tog, p, p2tog, turn. Sl2k1psso (1 st on the needle).
The adult size takes every scrap of yarn, so get gauge and leave a short tail before the knot on the Long Tail Provisional cast on.
This pattern is worked back and forth from band to crown, which is Kitchenered together at the back of the hat. Many rows don’t go to the edges on either side.
The points are shaped with short rows. If you’ve never knit short rows this is a great pattern to try them with – it only uses a single skein of yarn and the thicker yarn will make it easier to see and pickup the wraps. Read our tutorial on {how to knit short rows).
The number in parentheses at the end of the row is the number of stitches between wraps & turns or the end of the row. The child’s are before the slash and the adult is after. If there is only one number is applies to all sizes.
A small adult might be able to get away with not knitting the fit wedge at the back of the hat.
Hat
Using the long-tail provisional CO 32 (38) sts with a short tail at the knot, this pattern uses almost every inch of yarn.

Knit your preference of wedges. Either all of one, a mix bag. Stop knitting wedges once you reach 15” at the end of a wedge repeat across the garter stitch band. For the child’s version, continue to finishing. For the adult version, add a fit wedge.

Hi Chris, this might sound totally stupid. Lets say you have 10 stitches and on the 7th stitch you W&T when knitting back now is that considered the 2nd row or is it still the first row?
