US#8 (5.0 mm) circular needles, 24″
20 sts and 22 rows = 4” [10 cm] in St st after wet blocking.
20 sts and 20 rows = 4” [10 cm] in herringbone lace patt after wet blocking.
The cowl is worked flat lengthwise and seamed at the end. It may be helpful to place stitch markers after the cables to show each set of repeats, though not necessary.

2/2 RC – Move next 2 stitches on LN onto a cn and hold at back. K2 from LN, k2 from cn.
For both sizes CO 170 sts.

Row 3: As row 1.
Row 5: K1, *k1, (p1, k1, yo, p2tog, k1, p1, k1) 3 times, p1, C4B, p1; rep from * 5 times more, k1.
Row 6: Don’t forget row 6!
Rep from rows 3 – 6 until piece measures 6 (7¼)”/15 (18.5) cm, or desired length, from cast on edge, ending with a row 6.
BO by *k2tog, slip st back to lh needle; rep from * to end. Block to shape, join seam to make cowl.
