I saw photos in a fashion magazine of a famous actress. She was wearing a jersey dress printed with Korean words. The fit was beautiful but the meaning of the words was not. I wanted to knit a spring cardigan using soft spring colored yarn and beautiful words.
I love spring and the word “Spring” in Korean has a lovely accent. Spring in Korean is “Bome” and the sound of this word reminds me of an innocent little bud ready to come out. I designed this cardigan with a fair isle color motif and used this simple word as part of the design element.

Pattern Notes
This pattern is worked in the round to the shoulders, using steeks for the front opening and upper armhole. The set-in sleeves are worked in the round separately from the body to the armhole and are then joined to the body using decreases to shape the sleeve cap. A crochet edging is worked on the whole piece.
The color chart indicates where to start in the chart for each section and each size.
Bome Color Chart
Bome Tuck Chart
Double strand long tail CO
Make a slip knot using 2 strands of yarn (1 of MC and 1 of BC). Insert needle tip into both loops as you would for a regular long tail CO. Wrap BC around left thumb and wrap MC over index finger.. CO method is now the same as for a signle color long tail CO. Drop the BC loop from the first CO st and pull to remove slack.
Tuck: See chart above for how to work left and right tucks.
Steeks: 8 st vertical stripe steeks at armhole and front opening – K1 BC, k1 MC, k1 BC, k1 MC, k1 MC, k1 BC, k1 MC, k1 BC
This cardigan has two fits – plain shape and bell shape. The bell shape includes pleats on the sleeves and body to create waist shaping on the body and flair to the sleeves. Where instructions differ for the two shapes they are presented as plain shape numbers / bell shape numbers.
