Like many things in knitting, there’s more than one way to chart a cable. I’ll give you my preferred way and 2 additional ways below, but I’m sure there are others. As always, the Chart Key is your friend.
A Sample Cable Chart
Let’s break this down. Going from right to left, we can see:
- We start with a 2-stitch cable, otherwise known as a 1/1 cable.
- Then, we have a 4-stitch cable, also known as a 2/2 cable.
- And finally, we have a 3-stitch cable with a purl background. This one’s called a 2/1 RPC.
About the Instructor: Jody Richards
Jody is the founder and lead editor of Knotions. She loves poring over stitch dictionaries and trying out new stitches. And while she likes all things crafting (well ok, except that one thing), yarn crafts are her true love (and she has the stash to prove it).
She’s a serial starter-of-projects and has a serious problem with finishing things without a deadline.
And don’t get her talking about hand-dyed yarns. You’ve been warned.
