A few more color variations for you.
Again, I learned something from this and I hope you do too.
Accropode Shawl
The original green/brown is lovely, right? But look how different it is in purple or gray.
The thing I found so interesting is how the light blue shirt underneath either melded or popped. I never would have expected the shirt color to pop more with the gray but it does.

AOE socks
Again, socks can be done in almost any color. Here are 2 very different options from the original. I’m surprised at how much more I see the cables in the pink one than the original green. And obviously, they’re the same pic. It’s all about the color.
Beatrice’s Retort Shawl
You know I’m a big fan of purple, but here are two other striking options. The gray (like we learned above) shows off the shawl and shirt nicely. And blue is just a great all-around color.
Snuggly Loops Cowl
I couldn’t resist checking out what a black and white one would look like, and same goes for the pink for a strong – but monochromatic – option.
Color Options
I hope you see a couple things:
- color makes a big impact on the piece
- color makes a big impact on the wearer
- color makes a big impact on the outfit
All of this means you have SO many options when it comes to the yarn you pick out. Texture, color and needle size all play an important role. Push outside of your comfort zone. You just might surprise yourself.

Sometimes I wonder why I’ve collected so many patterns. Half a dozen good patterns can produce a myriad of FOs simply by changing colors, yarns, gauges, textures, or what-have-you.
I totally agree! And I’m the same way. Also, with yarn. I’ll buy a certain yarn just because they have it made up there and then lose interest once I bring it home 😉
