What exactly is a retreat?
Retreats can vary – some are about shopping and others are about learning new things. This retreat has a bit of both!
Kick back, relax, meet new friends, work on some projects and participate in their workshops!
While they, of course, do a workshop on dyeing yarn, they do other things too. In previous years, that’s included tablet weaving and chocolate-making. They try to shape the workshops to the attendees, so they’ll get feedback from everyone who registered before coming up with the exact schedule.
Take a workshop, relax and chat with friends, and ooh and aah at yarn! What a great way to recharge and spend a few days.
A little more about the location
The retreat is held at the Hawkesdene Estate. It’s an oversized Bed and Breakfast with room for all your friends, three meals a day and the natural beauty of the North Carolina mountains as backdrop.
Most of the year the Estate is booked for weddings but by being one of their first repeating guests, The Unique Sheep managed to grab an annual spot on the calendar.
I’d be new – would I Fit In?
We asked Laura Lough – one of the owners of The Unique Sheep – about this and she told us
Many of our guests return from year to year. This will be 10th year straight for a few of them!
But each year we also have new guests and at the end of the retreat I always hear remarks about how welcome they were made to feel and how seamlessly our new guests fit right into the Unique Sheep flock.
Some of our guests come with a friend or two but most show up individually, ready to make new friends!
So, while it sounds like several people do it every year, there are also new people each time as well!
I’m Interested – What do I Do?
Great! Just email Laura at laura@theuniquesheep.com to ask her any questions or to get the process moving.
