Pattern Notes

• Pattern is worked from the top center down.
• 4 edge increases are worked on every RS rows and 2 center increases on every other RS row.
• “Improved sts”: Knitters are welcome to use standard kyok, ssk, etc. but I found the following way to be tidier:
  • kyok: (k1, yo, ktbl) of same st.
  • ssk: sl1 kwise, sl1 pwise, k2togtbl.

• There are 4 major sections (Garter, Eyelet, Ribbed and Short-row) that can be worked in any order to create a unique-to-you shawl: After working one first Garter repeat, you can pick and choose which sections to work next. Each section (16 rows) adds 40 sts to the shawl. Finish it off with the ruffled edge.
• If working in a different order, note the following:
  • Eyelet section: you can omit any of the eyelet Rows (2, 6, 10 & 14) and work in garter st.
  • Short row section: you need to do some quick math for this section: count the number of sts between the 3 edge sts and the center st (N). Divide N by 9 = X. Round X down to the nearest whole number; this is how many sts you will have between your short-row turns.
