I know you need to keep track of row counts – it’s especially obvious with cables. But somehow, I end up getting confused and forgetting what I’m supposed to do. Is it once every 4 rows? 6?
Fortunately there’s an easy trick!
How to Do It
Here’s a cable that I want to count. I’m not sure if I should do a cable row now or the next time.
Weave a Double-Pointed Needle into the cable below and then the one below that. Use a smooth needle – metal works well!
Tip: Inserting the needles should NOT be hard to do. If the work is resisting, then it’s probably not in the correct place. Pull it out and try again. The needle should go through the hole that’s created by the cable.
Now that this is done, I find it easier if I point the needles away from each other. See how much easier that is?
