It’s hot! I’m writing this from my air-conditioned house wearing handknitted socks to keep me comfortable. I think it feels warmer because it came on so quickly that the my body didn’t get accustomed to the heat.
Either way – it’s HOT.
What should I make?
I’ve said it before – my two favorite warm weather projects are shawls and socks. They’re smaller, lighter and portable.
Here are a few of our shawls for you to consider:
They’re both made with sock yarn and they’re relatively easy so they’re portable too. And when you’re done, you have something to warm your shoulders against the AC or to wear in the cooler weather (because I promise it’s coming!).
Too hot to craft outside?
Knitting outside – my favorite summer pastime – is becoming more challenging with the humidity. My wool yarn even stuck to my metal needles! But I think I’m getting used to it because it’s getting easier. Or I’m going to need to break out some cotton, linen or hemp yarn but I’m really obsessed with this project now! You guys know how that is.
The warmer weather has been making me think about the summer-appropriate yarn I have in my stash. A linen shawl would be nice to wear inside to keep the chill off my shoulders. Or maybe some of that umpteen sock yarn I have can be put to a different use. Hmm…
