Spring is all about renewal – in a few weeks we’ll start to see the renewal of our garden with the greening of trees and the budding of shrubs, the renewal of our neighborhoods with people washing their cars and cleaning out their gutters, and the renewal of our knitting as we finish (or hibernate!) our winter WIPs in favor of new projects in cotton, linen, bamboo and hemp.
To help with that renewal we’ve collected 15 new free patterns for you — ladies’ garments (cardis, a pullover and a vest), a girls’ t-shirt that’s quick enough to knit before she grows out of it, a lace stole inspired by the sea, and of course a collection of sock patterns since they’re a perennial go-to project for many of you.
Now I know a lot of you have said that warm weather knitting isn’t your thing but we hope one of our designs will tempt you enough to give it a try. If you don’t like cotton, try a mercerized cotton or a blend. Bamboo is lovely too. There are so many gorgeous warm weather yarns to choose from — just give a few of them a try.
And since many of you said that your second-favorite handcraft is sewing, we’re debuting a new series – Fabric Row. These projects combine knitting and sewing into a tri of bags and a pin cushion (or a lavender sachet if you prefer).
Feedback is very important to us — so tell us what you think. Leave a comment on our blog, in our Ravelry group, or drop me a line. I’d love to hear what you think.
Most importantly, sit back and enjoy the renewal of spring — throw some burgers on the grill and get outside and knit under the warming sun. Afterall, your body and mind deserve a little renewal too.
