Fall knitting is here!
I know spring is usually talked about as the season of renewal, but for us knitters I think it’s fall. As soon as the fall yarn catalogs start to arrive in my mailbox I become giddy with excitement. I stalk the LYS just to get a peek at new fall yarns. I pull out old issues of magazines and patterns books, just trying to get a taste of what’s to come.
For me, fall knitting also means Rhinebeck knitting. Each August I start to daydream about what I want to wear to Rhinebeck in October. The weather is always a gamble – in the past few years we’ve had a heat wave, a cold spell, and rain. So versatility is key. I’m thinking about making a Bramblewood vest in a tweedy yarn. I can pair it with a t-shirt if it’s warm, or with a thicker layer if it’s chilly. I could even top it off with a Garden Gem shawlette if I need a little extra insulation in the mornings. Is it tacky to wear more than one handknit?
What are your plans? Let us know. I love living vicariously through your knitting.
