Holiday gift selecting doesn’t have to be stressful!
Here are 8 ideas to give for the knitter in your life. They’re all accessible – you don’t have to be a yarnie – and even if the knitter has it all they’ll likely be happy with any one of these items.
Clockwise, from upper left:
Foldable scissors – These are handy even if the knitter has a pair. Plus, I lose mine almost as much as stitch markers.
Stitch Markers – The removable kind. You really can’t ever have too many of these. They can work like regular stitch markers or they can be used to mark a place you want to remove later. Versatile.
Yarn – If you know a yarn they want, this can be a great gift. If you’re not sure, move on or get a sampler pack. Oh yeah! A sampler pack is a great way for a knitter to try out different yarns, and since it’s not about the colors, you don’t have to worry about picking just the right one.
Technology – If you have a set of favorite tutorials, web sites or apps – giving them a list (electronically via email is great) – then this can be a useful – and cheap – way to go. Plus they’ll think of you every time they use it. A few of our tutorials for you to consider – the Tab Cast On, How to Knit Short Rows and How to Knit a Thumb Gusset.
Needle Gauge – There are tons of different ones out there – some functional, some pretty. One thing I recommend – a gauge that includes the “off” sizes such as the 2.25 and 2.75 mm. Even if the knitter doesn’t use metric, being able to measure these sizes can be important.
Knitting Bag – There are SO MANY great options available. Find a bag that seems like “them” or pick on out that has a special meaning to you. My husband designed a bag for me last Christmas and I still smile every time I use it. Don’t discount how often we knitters use project bags.
Highlighter Tape – the removable kind. Being able to move a mark up each row on a chart or mark where you’re reading from in a pattern makes it SO MUCH easier to use. And easier means faster – so think of this one as giving the gift of time.
Gift Card – the old reliable. I like to think of it as giving a shopping spree. And what knitter doesn’t like to shop? Exactly.
These are just 8 ideas to get the juices flowing. If you have a knitter on your list, any of these would be appreciated – even loved – by them.
