sl1 wyib: slip 1 stitch purl-wise with yarn in back of work.
Pattern Notes
As you begin each pattern row, make sure to bring your working yarn up from behind the yarn not currently in use. Consistently positioning your working yarn in this manner will ensure neat and tidy edges. {Read our article on stranding multiple yarns.}
There are always two balls of yarn at the beginning of each new row (the third is on the opposite side). If you put your knitting down, and can’t remember which ball/color to use next, notice the two colors of stitches already on your needle, and begin working with the third color. For example, if you have grey and beige stitches on your needle, begin working the next row with ivory. If you have beige and ivory stitches on your needle, begin the next row with grey, etc.
