My inspiration comes from the ceramic tile mosaic columns of the modernist masterpiece Palau de la Música Catalana (Palace of Catalan Music), designed by Lluís Domènech i Montaner. Montaner was a contemporary and teacher of Gaudí and a renowned architect in his own right.
This basic pattern is an easy, semi-cropped V-neck construction, made by combining two identical rectangles worked from bottom front to bottom back and joined together on the sides and back. Optionally, 2 buttons, and 2 chain buttonhole loops may help to tie the vest.
The colorwork combines vertical stockinette stripes, intarsia, and stranded knitting. The pattern is bordered by twisted 1×1 ribbing and includes just a little embroidery for accent. Adequate for an intermediate level of skill, it is a fast and fun project to make.
