Can you believe our October issue is already here?
We have 10 new free patterns for you! Here are a few! Remember that the KAL lasts 2 months. Post your progress here and I’ll take some of the pics and post them to Facebook, Instagram and Ravelry too. Bonus – you don’t need an account here.
I’ve already started an Agalina Shawl (far left) using 2 shades of Miss Babs Yowza. I love how quickly this shawl is growing in worsted weight yarn and I think it’ll be a great piece for me to bring along and keep me warm – or to use as a scarf under my coat.
The other one I’m planning to start is the Ulchabháin Cowl and Mittens. Ciara, the designer, keeps reminding me that it’s Ulchabháin with the accent. Of course, my American roots keep forgetting. Bad Jody. Sorry, Ciara – I swear it’s an honest mistake.
Of course, I’ll be making them in my classic pink and purple. I think the colors will still have great contrast but they’ll be more “me”. Plus they’ll go with my winter coat too (a teal/turquoise shade). They’re also heathers because I just needed a heathered shade (or shades).
I think I’ll make the cowl background pink and then the mitten’s background purple so it’s less likely to get stained or dirty. What do you think?
And more importantly, what do you want to make from this issue?
Depending on how busy I am with the new issue, I plan to work on the cowl this weekend. You know how it is when you get new yarn – it must be worked IMMEDIATELY. Plus it’s finally starting to get a little chilly here (I won’t say cold – but it was 60 degrees Fahrenheit yesterday!).
The yarn has been sitting here on my desk since Wednesday and is just BEGGING to be worked on. Plus – how cool would it be to have a new cowl for the season?
Oh, and I have a few plans for mods for the mittens but I’ll talk about that when I get to that point.
I know I said short rows FTW but I’d say pink and purple FTW!
and ps – if you’re not sure what it means, FTW stands for For The Win. Because pink and purple is always FTW around these parts.
Don’t forget the fáda!
haha – i’m trying!
