Our Barnabas the Bat is the perfect little guy for your Halloween crafting.
He’s irresistible with his little fangs, wings and that belly. That belly! Don’t you want to just rub it? I’ve heard it brings you good luck.
Yes, he’s crocheted – but we have lots of tutorials to help you through. The big one is back loop only and we have you covered with this tutorial on back loop crochet. Once you try it you’ll realize how simple it is too.
We have lots of other crochet tutorials to give you a hand too. You only need a couple for Barnabas though – chain and back loop only.
Even if this is your first crochet project, give Barnabas a try. A toy is a great place to start because if it’s a little off it’s ok – no one will know. You’ve been wanting to try crochet and this is the perfect time. We’ll also be here so post your questions and we’ll help you out.
What else can you learn from Barnabas? There’s how to crochet around a pipe cleaner – it gives Barnabas his firm wings (and yes we link to a tutorial for that), a small amount of embroidery for his lips and fangs, a bit of stuffing and inserting the eyes.
This is a great beginner project that can be done in time for next Monday’s celebrations! And if you’re a pro at crochet you can bang this out in an evening.
Crochet him for your window, your mantle, decorate your office or prop him up on your cube wall. Give him as a gift to your favorite little goblin. Wherever he goes, he’s sure to bring a smile to everyone’s faces.
