Basics
There’s a big variety of wearable crochet – what I call modern crochet.
25 patterns
Includes a basic technique guide at the end. I like it placed at the end so, while it’s there, it’s only used when you actually need it. It’s the little things.
Beyond the Basics
The patterns are presented with diagrams/charts. There are no written line-by-line instructions so it’s a great way to get comfortable with them! And if I’m being honest here (and you knew I would), I’m a big fan of charts and diagrams. Showing how something will look gives you a lot more than just the instructions for how to make it.
And while you get diagrams, there are lots of step-by-step pictures of the unusual stitches. Just take a look at this one.
Almost-all patterns include multiple colors or multi-colored yarn, so it’s a great way for you to combine leftovers or use up that great hank of yarn that you don’t know what to do with.
I also love how they show you other color combinations so you’re not just stuck with the one they made. They even give you a short lesson on color theory and contrast.
Even if you don’t make the patterns, you’ll learn a lot just by reading the book!
It also talks about the benefits of a specific stitch for an item.
Here, she’s talking about the thickness of the Lif Stitch and how it creates an insulating effect on the cup holder.
And, we even see how a stitch looks on both the RS and WS.
Even if you don’t make the patterns, you’ll learn a lot just by reading the book!

Why Should I Get This Book?
That’s always the big question, right?
There’s a lot to love about this book. The pictures are clear. The designs are different and unique. The unusual stitches are spelled out, so it doesn’t leave you hanging.
Having said that, if you HATEHATEHATE diagrams and under no circumstances do you want to work from them, this may not be the book for you.
But, if you’re curious to try them, then this book might be the one. Check it out.
I love this book and after checking it out of the library quickly realized I need this in my library and so I bought it. It’s a great book for crocheters.
i’m so glad you like it!
we TOTALLY agree. it’s a great book in a sea of not-very-unusual books.
