Not Just For Socks
I often say this about colorwork!
If you like a motif but not in socks – look to use it in other ways! A couple ideas:
- Fingerless mitts
- Wrist warmers (super-quick and great for gifts!)
- Cowl
- A band across the chest of a sweater
- A circle near the bottom of a sleeve cuff
- In a blanket
- On a pillow
- Framed in a shadow box (especially good if you don’t want to wear it)
These are just a few ideas. Truthfully though, they fit in lots of different projects.
A Look at the Motifs
That’s what you’re here for right?
Take a look at some of the variety!
I picked several with her wearing different types of footwear to give you some ideas.
I knew there were clear shoes, but I didn’t know that there were clear boots, too.

About the Writer: Jody Richards
Jody is the founder and lead editor of Knotions. She loves poring over stitch dictionaries and trying out new stitches.
She’s also on a mission to get everyone to embrace the blocking. And, to avoid using garter stitch edges in knit swatches made for gauge.
And while she likes all things crafting (well ok, except that one thing), yarn crafts are her true love (and she has the stash to prove it).
