Shield maidens were ferocious female Viking warriors that were vibrantly described in many Norse sagas.
Until recently, shield maidens were largely considered mythical; however, a 2017 DNA analysis confirmed that a body found buried along with several weapons and horses was in fact female.
I’ve always found inspiration in strong female figures. Shield Maiden is a circular yoke, fingering weight, 3⁄4 length sleeve sweater designed to feature a stitch based on the Norse rune that represents these exceptional women.
You get 2 separate files!
1 for sizes 1-6, and another for sizes 7-9
We’ve done it this way so that the smaller and larger sizes don’t need to use the same increases and rates of increases!
What this means is that we’ve taken the time to write the pattern for each group of sizes individually. While this takes a lot longer to write and tech edit, it creates a more accurate size-inclusive pattern.
Said another way – if you’re going to do it, do it right.
