I used Knit Picks KnitPicks Heatherly Worsted (80% Acrylic, 20% Merino Wool) in the Lilac colorway and a US#8 (5.0 mm) needle.
This one just needed to be in our STEM issue!
Spindles are so STEM. Each cross-section is a circle (remember your high school geometry?). And the changing sizes can be calculated as the length of the circumference.
But the nice thing is – all of this has been taken care of in the stitches. All you need to do is knit it.

About the Writer: Jody Richards
Jody is the founder and lead editor of Knotions. She loves poring over stitch dictionaries and trying out new stitches.
She’s also on a mission to get everyone to embrace the blocking. And, to avoid using garter stitch edges in knit swatches made for gauge.
And while she likes all things crafting (well ok, except that one thing), yarn crafts are her true love (and she has the stash to prove it).
