This issue’s Stitchopedia focuses on simpler stitches that can work even with a fuzzier yarn (like a mohair).

Thoughts
The CO row was a little splitty, so I needed to go slowly for that first row. After that, it was pretty decent.
I did go a bit slower, but I really don’t care for knitting with wood needles, so that wasn’t an option.
I really don’t recommend tinking back (said splittiness). And after making this swatch, I can tell you that I wished I went with the plainer 5×5 rib. To make it easier, I knitted the stitches with the loops very close to the edge.
Given how it behaved, I’d look to use it in a project that isn’t likely to get snagged. I think the snags would be very hard to get out.
But now that I’ve made the swatch, I can say that it’s a real stunner with a soft hand. Knowing how this looks, I’d deal with the knitting more slowly and carefully because it’s worth it!
About the Writer: Jody Richards
Jody is the founder and lead editor of Knotions. She loves poring over stitch dictionaries and trying out new stitches.
She’s also on a mission to get everyone to embrace the blocking. And, to avoid using garter stitch edges in knit swatches made for gauge.
And while she likes all things crafting (well ok, except that one thing), yarn crafts are her true love (and she has the stash to prove it).
