Knit in Warm Weather!
Your favorite pass time doesn’t need to stop just because the weather has gotten warmer!
Here are a few tips
Tips
Make your summer knitting work with your life – and not run it.
- Pick smaller, portable projects – think socks, shawls, or anything in pieces that you can pack in a bag. I suggest leaving that big blanket at home 🙁
- Use thinner yarn – whatever your preferred weights are, I suggest going for something in the thinner range. Thinner yarn = lighter weight when working on it and when carrying it around.
- Select a yarn that’s better for warmer weather – bamboo, linen and hemp are all great choices. Avoid yarn that can felt with hands that might have perspiration on them, or if it gets wet from a drip coming from your cool drink.

Common Themes
These are come great examples of portable, easy to work on projects. Some of them will even work when you want to hold a conversation and not need to concentrate.
These projects have a few things in common as well:
- Smaller projects
- Great to wear in warmer weather (instant gratification!)
- Their charts are either repetitive or they don’t need one at all
- Even if they do use a feltable yarn, a non-feltable alternative would work great too
Give them a try
If these projects don’t work for you, that’s ok. The important thing is that you work on something. Don’t stop knitting just because the weather is warmer – there are lots of options for you in warmer weather too!
