If you’re going to crochet, you need to know how to chain. Fortunately, it’s easy. Make a slip knot in your yarn. Hold the hook in your right hand and put the knot around your hook. This does NOT count as a chain. Wind the working yarn around the hook (it’s called yarn over or YO) and pull the yarn through the loop on your hook. One chain made. Note: the working yarn is the one attached to the ball – not the end dangling from the slip knot. Here’s what it will look like after you’ve worked a few chains. And yes, it might be windy.
