This increase creates 2 stitches. It’s not-often used, but it *is*used in our Fibonacci Tree Shawl.
How to work a Make 2 Purlwise (M2P)
This increase is worked over 2 purl stitches.
Step 1: Work a LLIP (left lifted increase purl), by inserting Left Needle into the stitch 2 rows below from back to front and purling it. If you need a refresher on how to work Lifted Increases, you can read all about them in our tutorial!
Step 2: Work a RLIP (right lifted increase purl), by inserting Right Needle into the stitch in the row below from back to front and purling it. Again, take a peek at our tutorial on Lifted Increases if you’d like.
That’s it! You’ve now increased the stitches on your needle by 2 stitches!
Practice makes perfect
Give this a go on a small swatch. This will give you the chance to familiarize yourself and get comfortable with the stitch. The M2P takes a bit more work, so it’ll be good to try it out on a swatch before doing the real thing!
