What ‘Mediterranean’ brings to my mind is Valencia, my favorite city in Spain. The city is famous for its unique architecture by Santiago Calatrava – white buildings surrounded by beautiful water. You won’t need socks in Valencian summer, but for those of us who must reminiscence on it from the distance, these socks might come in handy.
Valencia Socks are knit from cuff to toe, with a flap heel and a wedge toe. The wave stitch pattern uses slipped stitches and it’s easy to memorize and quick to knit. The waves are mirrored across the socks and extend down the outer part of the leg to the toes.

Pattern Notes
The socks are worked from cuff to toe, with a flap heel and a wedge toe. The pattern comes in two sizes, and the length of the foot is easily adjustable for perfect fit – just add more Stockinette stitch rows in toe, or begin toe decreases earlier.
The socks are worked in the round, with the exception to the heel, which is worked flat.
The wave stitch panel is worked on different sides for the two socks (needle 2 in the right sock, needle 3 on left sock) and uses different charts for each (Charts R1 and R2 for right sock and Charts L1 and L2 for left).
