We did both knitting and crochet swatches so you can see what these look like in both crafts!
We show you a bunch of new yarns as well as some interesting additions to a yarn you know and love.
Please note that I both washed and dried the Cotton Classic Twist and Amelia swatches. The knitted swatches didn’t really change. The crochet swatch sizes didn’t change but they did get flatter (you might see that in the Crochet swatches).
Knitting Swatches
Cotton Classic Twist
Needle: 4.5mm/7 metal sharp tips
Gauge: 18 sts/4″
Fiber Content: 100% Mercerized Cotton
The yarn is a fun twist on a true classic and I’d guess that many of you have used Cotton Classic in the past.
I used sharp tips for making the swatch but if I were to make an entire item, I’d use a blunter tip. I had to be careful not to split the yarn
Experience Level: Intermediate because of the splitting concern
Amelia
Needle: 4.5mm/7 metal sharp tips
Gauge: 18 sts/4″
Fiber Content: 40% Silk, 30% Linen, 30% Cotton
Get a dappled look because the three fibers take the dye differently.
While the ball band says hand-wash-only, I successfully machine washed and dried the swatch.

Gemma
Needle: 4.5mm/7 metal sharp tips
Gauge: 18 sts/4″
Fiber Content: 63% Recycled Cotton, 27% Recycled Polyester, 10% Polyamide
This chainette yarn really turned me into a Recycled fiber convert. The swatch is soft and has nubbs similar to a warm-weather tweed.
Experience Level: Intermediate because it’s a chainette.
Newport
Needle: 4.5mm/7 metal sharp tips
Gauge: 18 sts/4″
Fiber Content: 67% Cotton, 23% Linen, 10% Polyamide
This is my favorite yarn of the lot!
It’s a chainette but with a soft hand.
It works up very light and comes in a range of adult shades.
Experience Level: Intermediate because it’s a chainette.

Gemma
Hook: G hook
Fiber Content: 63% Recycled Cotton, 27% Recycled Polyester, 10% Polyamide
The swatch worked up lighter weight and lovely!

Newport
Hook: G hook
Fiber Content: 67% Cotton, 23% Linen, 10% Polyamide
Another chainette yarn with a soft and cuddly feel.
This will work up in gorgeous and lightweight tops. I wouldn’t suggest using it for a blanket because I don’t think I’d want to machine wash or rub the yarn.
Experience Level: Intermediate because of the chainette

And don’t get her talking about hand-dyed yarns. You’ve been warned.
