Using Long Tail Cast-On and C1, CO 3 sts.

Row 1 (RS): k1, kfb, k1 – 4 sts

Row 2 (WS): knit

Row 3: k1, kfb, k2 – 5 sts

Row 4: knit

Row 5: k1, yo, k2tog, yo, place marker, k2 – 6 sts

Row 6: knit

Section 1

Row 7 (RS): k1, yo, k2tog, knit to marker, yo, sm, k2 – 7 sts

Row 8 (WS): knit

Repeat rows 7 and 8 until 20sts on your needles.

Attach color C2.  Use our 2-color tutorial to carry both yarns up the side.  Avoid cutting!

Work rows 7 and 8 with C2, twice.

Work rows 7 and 8 with C1, twice.

Work alternating both colors until 70 sts on you needles ending working C1.

Section 2

Cut C1 and C2 and attach C3.

Row 9 (RS): k1, yo, k2tog, k to 2 sts before marker, sl1-k1-psso, yo, sm, k2

Row 10 (WS): knit

Work Rows 9 and 10 four more times.

Attach C4.

Combo A

Work rows 9 and 10 with C4, 1 time.

Work rows 9 and 10 with C3, 1 time.

Repeat the combo A 7 more times, ending with color 3.

Combo B

Work rows 9 and 10 with C4, 2 times.

Work rows 9 and 10 with C3, 2 times.

Repeat the combo B 6 more in total, ending with color 3.

Work rows 9 and 10 with C3 (10 times) in total.

Section 3

Row 11 (RS): k1, yo, k2tog, knit to 3 sts before marker, sl2-k1-psso, yo, sm, k2 (1 st decreased)

Row 12 (WS): knit

Attach C2.

Work rows 11 and 12 with C2, 1 time.

Attach C1.

Work rows 11 and 12 with C1, 1 time.

Work rows 11 and 12 with C4, 1 time. Cut C4.

Work rows 11 and 12 with C3, 1 time. Cut C3.

Work rows 11 and 12 with C2, 1 time. 64 sts rem.

Combo C

Work rows 11 and 12 with C1, 3 times.

Work rows 11 and 12 with C2, 1 time.

Work Combo C until 33 sts rem.

Attach C3 and cut C1 and C2.

Then work rows 11 and 12 with C3 until 20 sts rem.

Attach C4

Combo D

Work rows 11 and 12 with C4, 1 time.

Work rows 11 and 12 with C3, 1 time.

Repeat Combo D until 8 sts rem.

Work rows 11 and 12 with C4, 1 time.

Attach C1 and cut C3 and C4.

Then work as follows with C1:
