Doves Cry is a love song. This shawl is a bit of a love song too – it’s the warm, sweet embrace of new love, the wings that allow you to take flight and sail away on an updraft. I offer this shawl as a tribute and thank you to an important artist. Enjoy making this project, and perhaps knitting your own thank you or goodbye into it. Make your own art and send your own message with Doves Cry.

About the Designer: Afifa
I started knitting as a child and was reintroduced to it a few years ago by my fabulous friends who are never not knitting.
In the last few years, I’ve become quite the knitaholic, have amassed an alarming amount of yarn and have started designing my own patterns.
I love this pattern and am so happy that it is a written one as I get totally lost in charts Thank you
Hi there, I wanted to add this to my Ravelry library, but there is no link on this pattern, although there is on other patterns in this newsletter. Is a link possible???
Thanks for All the Knitty loveliness. Roz
Here you go http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/doves-cry. It’s missing unintentionally so I’ll fix it tomorrow. I apologize for the inconvenience! Thanks for your interest 🙂
Beautiful pattern! I must put it on my list, the sooner the better.
That’s great! What yarn are you thinking of using?
Good question! Anything Madelaine Tosh would be perfect.
ooh it’d be beautiful with those lovely variegations!
Thank you so much for the written pattern, as I have difficulties with the charts. (& no, I don’t need another person telling me how to read them)
It’s a lovely shawl, that I’m looking forward to knitting
Awesome! I’m glad you like it. I might have one OTN too 🙂
Lovely shawl! I wish there were charts, since I do much better with them. I may have to struggle along with the words, it’s such a nice piece.
it’s a lovely shawl isn’t it?
I prefer charts too (in general). but this shawl is so simple it really doesn’t need them. It’s just (yo, k2tog) or (ssk, yo) and then either garter or stockinette stitch.
I hope you give it a try!
