Tr2tog (Treble Two Together): Yarn over twice, working in front, insert hook into same skipped stitch as your previous tr/tr2tog (two rows below), yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through two loops, yarn over and pull yarn through two loops, yarn over and working in front, insert hook into next skipped stitch two rows below, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through two loops, yarn over and pull through two loops, yarn over and pull through last three loops. You have just made an inverted “V”.
Pattern Notes
The pattern is worked in rows and then sewed together to create a circle.
It is recommended to begin the pattern with a foundation single crochet to create a cleaner accessory but if prepare you can chain 100 and then 1 single crochet in next chain and each chain across.
Chain 1 at the beginning of the row will not count as a stitch.
Cowl – Crochet instructions
Row 1: With C1, foundation single crochet 99.
Row 2: Ch 1 and turn, 1 sc in same st (chain does not count as a stitch), 1 sc in next st and each st across.
Row 3: Ch 1 and turn, 1 sc in same ch, 1 sc in next 2 sts, *ch 1, skip next st, sc in next 3 sts, repeat from * across.
Row 4: With C2, ch 1 and turn, 1 dc in same st, 1 dc in each stitch and ch space across.
Row 5: Ch 1 and turn, 1 sc in same st, 1 tr in first skipped st on row 3, skip next dc (behind tr just made), 1 sc in next dc, ch 1 and skip next dc, 1 sc in next dc, *tr2tog, skip next dc (behind tr2tog just made), 1 sc in next dc, ch 1 and skip next dc, 1 sc in next dc, repeat from * until the last 2 dc, tr in same skipped st as tr2tog below, skip next dc (behind tr just made), 1 sc in last dc.
Rows 6-12: Repeat rows 4 & 5 alternating between C1 and C2 every two rows.
Row 13: With C2, ch 1 and turn, 1 sc in same st, 1 sc in next st and each st across.
Finishing
Fasten off, leaving a long tail to sew the wrongs sides of the cowl together.
