Schaefer Yarn Miss Priss (100% merino wool; 280 yards [256 m] / 4 oz [113 g]): 2 skeins Color A (Bugs), 1 skein Color B (Peter), and 1 skein Color C (Pocohontas)
Needles
US #8 (5 mm): straight or 24″ circular
US #7 (4.5 mm): 16” circular (or one size smaller than that needed to obtain gauge)
Gauge
18 sts and 26 rows = 4” (10 cm) in St st on larger ndls.

3 stitch holders or scrap yarn; tapestry needle.

Back
With larger ndl, CO 86 (94, 100) sts with Color A
Rows 1-4: K
Row 5: P
Dec Row: K1, ssk, k to last 3 sts, k2tog, k1.
Continue in st st and stripe pattern, working dec row every 8th(6th ,6th ) row 11 (14, 16) more times; 62 (64, 66) sts rem.
Work in st st until meas 17 (19, 21)” [43 (48, 53) cm] from bottom edge, ending with WS row.
Armhole
BO 3 sts at beg of next two rows.
BO 2 sts at the beginning of the following two rows.
Next row: K
Next row: P
Dec row: K1, ssk, k to last 3 sts, k2tog, k1
Continue in st st working dec row every other row 3 more times; 44 (46, 48) sts rem.
Work until back meas 23 (25, 28)” [58.5 (63.5, 71) cm] from bottom edge, ending with a WS row.
Place all sts on a holder.
Front
Work as for back until there are 6 (9, 11) rpts of decreases ending with a RS row and at the end of a stripe.
Next Row: P14 (15, 16), place removable marker onto last st worked, p48, place removable marker onto last st worked, p to end. Work for 36 more rows ending with a rs row (6 stripes). Place all sts on a holder.
With color A pick up and k 48 sts in between removable markers on row below markers. Remove markers. Work these 48 sts in st st keeping the first and last 4 sts in garter st (k every row).
Work 5 rows.
Dec row: K4, ssk, k to last 6 sts, k2tog, k to end.
Work dec row every 6th row, 5 more times ending with a RS row; 36 sts rem
Place all sts on a holder.
Join Pocket
Put sts from front holder back onto the ndl, p across first 14 (15, 15) sts using the next color in the stripe pattern, then p next st tog with first st from pocket, continue in this manner until all pocket sts are joined to the front, p to end of row.
Continue to work in st st and stripe pattern until meas 17 (19, 21)” or 43 [48, 53] cm from bottom edge, ending with WS row.
Neckline/ Set up for Hood
Right Side of Hood
BO 3 sts at beg of next two rows.
BO 2 sts at the beginning of the following two rows.
Next row: K
Next row: P
Row 7: K1, ssk(1st armhole decrease), k28 (29, 30). Put a removable st marker on the 21st (22nd , 23rd ) st on the right hand ndl. Place remaining 21 (22, 23) sts on a holder.
Work on the 30 (31, 32) live sts and keeping the 4 hood edge sts in garter st continue to work in st st with stripe pattern, remembering to work armhole decreases as foll – work dec row every other row 3 more times. Work until the front measures the same as the back. Place these 27 (28, 29) sts on a holder
Left side of Hood
Pick up and k10 sts starting with the st that has the removable marker on it remove marker. Then k the 21 (22, 23) sts from holder and remembering to work armhole decreases as foll – work dec row every other row 3 more times. Keeping the 4 hood edge sts in garter st continue to work in st st with stripe pattern. Work until the front measures the same as the back.
Shoulders
Using three needle bind off and holding fronts and back with RS together, knit together the 9 (10, 11) sts for each shoulder.
Hood
Place 18 left front sts, 26 center back sts, and 18 right front sts onto larger ndl. On the 1st round (RS) pick up 2 sts at each shoulder and join; 66 sts total. Keeping first and last 4 sts in garter st work in st st and stripe pattern for 11 (12, 12.5)” [27.5 (30, 32)] cm Divide sts evenly over 2 ndls with RS together. Use 3 ndl bind off to knit together.
Finishing
Sew up side seams.
Weave in the ends.
With the smaller ndl and color A, pick up approx. 80 ( 80, 90) sts around one armhole.
K 1 rnd, p 1 rnd. BO.
Repeat on second armhole.
Block.
