Learn one of the basic building blocks of every knitting project. This is a great place to start because it’s easier than most of the other knitting stitches.
How to do it
Step 1: Insert the RN from left-to-right into the stitch. Although this is the correct way, it will likely feel “wrong” to you.
Step 2: Wind the working yarn around your RN counterclockwise.
Step 3: Pull the yarn through the stitch in Step 1
Step 4: Take the stitch off the Left needle (LN).
Step 5: Pull/tug at the stitch a bit.
You’ve made one stitch!
Don’t knit through the wrong loop!
Make sure you put the needle into the stitch this way
and not this way
Abbreviation
The knit stitch is abbreviated as K or k. And, if you see a “k” in other abbreviations, it’s likely standing for “knit”
