Fiber Fast Facts
- With its high Bluefaced Leister (BFL) content, it’s very strong.
- Also because of its BFL, there isn’t a lot of stretch in the yarn.
- Given its strength though, it’s an excellent candidate for socks. Lacework is also great because it blocks well.

First Impressions
- It’s a beatifully strong yarn!
- The dyeing is gorgeous, but it’s no surprise since it’s from Sweet Georgia.
- This is an addition to their regular yarn line.

Swatching & Stitch Definition
- Since this yarn is predominantly BFL, I’ll limit my stitch suggestions to ones that work well with BFL. Since BFL is so smooth, texture works very well in it, and Trifecta Fine shows texture well! It also works well in lace and openwork. Its smoothness will show cables nicely, and the fiber mix makes it so that it stretches too.
- And since BFL doesn’t pill much, it works well in stockinette too.
- I think that BFL works very well in garter, because the stitch itself creates some additional stretch.
- Both BFL and Silk will block beautifully! And while mohair will block, it’s not one of its best attributes. But given that 85% of the yarn blocks nicely, it’s no surprise that Trifecta blocks well.
- It shows stitch definition very well.
- The yarn is just softly hand-dyed. The color variations are subtle, and if you were looking at the whole skein from any distance, you’d say it was a solid.
Take a look – it’s beautiful:

How It Feels & Knits Up
- It’s a nice, soft yarn. Maybe not quite a soft as superwash merino, but really close.
- There’s a tiny bit of a halo, but just barely. You wouldn’t say it’s a tell-tale mohair yarn. Take a look:

- It glides really nicely on the needles.
- It has a good amount of stretch, but a bit less than a merino. BFL is known for its drape. I think a shawl would be WONDERFUL in this yarn!
- Sweet Georgia really knows the yarn dyeing game, and I didn’t get any pooling or flashing.
Durability & Wearability
- This is a very sturdy yarn.
- The skein doesn’t tell you how to launder it, so I’d err on the side of caution and hand wash it.
- BFL and silk are both known to resist pilling and all 3 fibers are very strong.
- Given its strength, I’d say it would be good for an every day project.
Best Project Types
- My project recommendations will run the gamut here – garments, accessories and anything lacework.
- This yarn can really be used by all knitters. I don’t have qualms about anyone using it!
Color, Dyeing & Availability
- The colors range from soft to highly pigmented and everything in between. As of the writing, there were 70 colors available.
- The dyeing is very smooth and behaves well.
- This is a new addition to their regular line. And since it said that it’s a favorite of Felicia’s (the owner) I suspect it’ll be here to stay.

Pros & Cons
Pros:
✔️All three fibers are known for their strength.
✔️It’s a great workhorse yarn.
✔️Given it’s not apt to pill, you can feel comfortable making it into a project that will get a lot of wear.
Cons:
⚠️ I really can’t think of anything. Maybe (and I’m stretching here) its smaller size would make it not a great choice for some people. I’m really saying it so that I have something in the cons. But I truly love the yarn.
That’s really the only one I can think of. It’s a great yarn that should be in everyone’s toolbox.
Final Verdict – Is It Worth Stashing?
- Although merino wool has had its heyday lately, BFL really deserves a place here too.
- It’s a great yarn that should be in everyone’s toolbox.
- Final rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ / 5
- I gave it this rating because it’s not hiding the fibers. It’s up to you to use it in the right types of projects

She’s also on a mission to get everyone to embrace the blocking. And, to avoid using garter stitch edges in knit swatches made for gauge.
And while she likes all things crafting (well ok, except that one thing), yarn crafts are her true love (and she has the stash to prove it).
