This increase creates a small eyelet. It’s less-well-known than a few other increases such as the M1, M1R, and kyok, but it’s still a good one for you to know how to work. And, it’s in one of our designs this month – the Multiplication by Division Shawl.
How to work a Loop 1 Purl (L1P)
Step 1: Take your Right Needle and put it under the thread that goes between the stitches in the row below it.
Step 2: Put it on your Left Needle.
Step 3: Purl it.
Practice makes perfect
Give this a go on a small swatch. This will give you the chance to familiarize yourself and get comfortable with the stitch. The L1P isn’t hard!
