This was the first swatch that I made! I just couldn’t put it down.
I used:
- Brooklyn Tweed Imbue Worsted in Hummingbird
- US #7/4.5 mm Chiaogoo circulars
And look at how big it is! It’s over 10″ x 10″ (over 25cm x 25cm).
I enjoyed that the swatch had a little bit of lots of different things:
- ribbing
- integrated I-Cord edges to keep it nice and neat – pic at right
- rev SS
- cabling
General Info on my Blanket Swatches
Each of my swatches was NOT blocked. I did that deliberately because who in their right mind would block a blanket every time they washed it? So, I wanted you to see reality. As you can see though, the Imbue yarn did beautifully! I also didn’t weave in the ends so you couldn’t mistake it for a whole blanket (it’s so hard to know scale when it’s online).
Final Thoughts on Homewood
Knitting the swatch was pure enjoyment! I enjoyed the ribbing because I knew it was a respite. And the cabling just did the things I would have expected. After a bit, I didn’t even need the charts.
About the Writer: Jody Richards
Jody is the founder and lead editor of Knotions. She loves poring over stitch dictionaries and trying out new stitches.
She’s also on a mission to get everyone to embrace the blocking. And, to avoid using garter stitch edges in knit swatches made for gauge.
And while she likes all things crafting (well ok, except that one thing), yarn crafts are her true love (and she has the stash to prove it).
