I made this swatch after the high I had from Homewood!
And remember, I LOVED Umaro back in the day. So, it was an easy sell over a decade later.
For Umaro, I used:
- Brooklyn Tweed Imbue Worsted in Warbler
- US #7/4.5 mm Chiaogoo circulars
My swatch is a much more reasonable 6″ x 6″ (15cm x 15 cm).
Lots to Love (Again)
Similar to Homewood, Umaro had a nice variety of techniques:
- seed stitch edges
- eyelets and decreases to “draw” the lines
- an interesting cable in the center of the motif
- some more seed stitch to give it some more visual interest
General Info on my Blanket Swatches
Each of my swatches was NOT blocked. I did that deliberately because who in their right mind would block a blanket every time they washed it? So, I wanted you to see reality. As you can see though, the Imbue yarn did beautifully! I also didn’t weave in the ends so you couldn’t mistake it for a whole blanket (it’s so hard to know scale when it’s online).
Final Thoughts on Umaro
I can’t properly emphasize my excitement to see Umaro in the book! And a lacy swatch done in a Worsted weight yarn? It goes Q U I C K L Y.
About the Knitter: Jody Richards
Jody is the founder and lead editor of Knotions. She loves poring over stitch dictionaries and trying out new stitches.
She’s also on a mission to get everyone to embrace the blocking. And, to avoid using garter stitch edges in knit swatches made for gauge.
And while she likes all things crafting (well ok, except that one thing), yarn crafts are her true love (and she has the stash to prove it).
