Cozy Spot is a blanket featuring bands of garter stitch and mosaic patterning. The mosaic pattern is the Cross and Diamond motif from Barbara Walker’s Mosaic Knitting.
Inspired by a need for a new blanket for my couch and a desire to play with mosaic knitting.

Pattern Notes
This pattern is worked in one piece. A simple edging is worked last to “frame” the sides.
Directions for the mosaic sections are both written and charted.
Colors are referred to as MC (main color), CC1 (contrasting color 1) and CC2 (contrasting color 2).
Break yarn as indicated.
Directions are written as Baby (Throw). Refer to the numbers for the size you are working on.
Notes on working Mosaic patterns from a chart:
- Each row on the chart indicates 2 rows (knitted on both RS and WS), which are worked using the same color.
- For every row, the color of the first block on the RHS is knitted and the other color is slipped.
- Slip a stitch as if to purl with yarn held to WS of work (wyib on RS and wyif on WS).
- All odd-numbered rows (RS) are worked from right to left following the chart. For even-numbered rows (WS), you do not need the chart. The sts with the same color as the working yarn are knitted, and the other color sts are slipped wyif.
- RS rows begin with a single st knit in the color that row is being worked. Work pattern multiples as many times as needed (the pattern multiple is between the red vertical lines on the chart) until you get to the last 2 sts of the row.
- Pick up a new color at the beg of a row from behind the old color.
