Pattern is written for smallest size, with larger sizes in parenthesis. If one number is given, it applies to all sizes.
A circular needle is used to accommodate the large number of stitches on the needle. Only the sleeves are worked in the round.

Needles
US Size 4 (3.5mm) 32” circular, US Size 2 (2.75mm) and 4 (3.5mm) and DPN knitting needles, 4 st markers, 2 stitch holders, 4 buttons.
Abbreviations
Please see our standard abbreviations.
m1R: With left hand needle, place the tip of the needle from back to front into the bar between the sts on the needle, k this st.
m1L: With left hand needle, place the tip of the needle from front to back into the bar between the sts on the needle, k this st tbl.
w&t (See our tutorial): Slip next st from left to right needle with yarn in back, bring yarn to front of work, return st to left hand needle and turn work. When going back to k or p these sts, sl the wrap up onto the needle and work them either k2togtbl for RS Rows, or p2tog for WS Row).
Garter Stitch Stripe
(The first and last 6 sts are worked in MC only. When you approach a change in color, be sure to twist the two color together on the WS to prevent a hole from occurring.)
Row 1 (WS): K with MC only.
Row 2: Same as row 1.
Rows 3-6: K6 with MC, k to last 6 sts with CC, k6 with MC.
Rep these 6 rows for stripe sequence.
Cardigan
Begin
(Read through entire section before proceeding—you will be increasing the yoke at the same time as making buttonholes.)
Yoke
With smaller circular knitting needle and MC, long-tail CO 96, (99, 102, 105, 114) sts.
Work in Garter Stitch Stripe unless indicated otherwise. Work for 1 ½”, end having worked a WS Row.
Inc Row (RS): K6, *k3 sts, m1L; rep from * to last 9 sts, k9.
123, (127, 131, 135, 147) sts on needle.
Switch to larger circular needles and work a further 1½” more, end having worked a WS Row.
Inc Row (RS): K6, *k4, m1L; rep from * to last 9 sts, k9.
150, (155, 160, 165, 180) sts on needle.
Work until yoke measures 4 ¾”, (5, 5 ¼, 5 ½, 5 ½) from CO edge, end having worked a WS Row.
Cut CC.
You will now be working in st st, keeping the first and last 6 sts in garter stitch.
Next Row/ Inc Row (RS):
K6, *k5, (5, 5, 4, 3), m1L; rep from * to last 9, (9, 9, 7, 6) sts, k9, (9, 9, 7, 6).

At the same time work the Buttonhole Row on a RS Row after the yoke measures 1” from CO edge, and then work it three times more, spacing the buttonholes 1 ½” apart.

Divide for Body (RS) (K across to m, remove m, slip the next 41, (46, 51, 54, 59) sts onto a holder, remove m, Cable CO 6 sts)twice, k to end of row.

Work in until piece measures 7½”, (8, 9, 10, 11½) from body divide, end having worked a WS Row, dec 0, (0, 0, 0, 1) st across.

Sleeves
With RS facing, MC and larger DPNs, start at center of underarm, pick up and k 3 sts from half of the under arm CO, k across 41, (46, 51, 54, 59) sts from stitch holder, pick up and k 3 sts from the other half of the underarm CO. Pm to mark beg of rnd.
47, (52, 57, 60, 65) sts on needle.
K 1 rnd, dec 1, (0, 1, 0, 1) st around.
46, (52, 56, 60, 64) st son needle.
Next Rnd: *K1, p1; rep from * around.
Rep this rnd for 1”. BO all sts on next rnd in rib. Rep for the other sleeve.
Finishing
Block sweater lightly to measurements. Sew 4 buttons onto front band. Weave in all ends.
